Kesko, a Finnish trader, provides services to the grocery, construction and technical, and automotive industries. Headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, this outfit operates across Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Poland, Sweden and Norway. Kesko was founded in 1940 through the merger of four local wholesalers: Savo-Karjalan Tukkuliike, Keski-Suomen Tukkukauppa Oy, Kauppiaitten Oy and Maakkauppiaitten Oy. The company underpins quality, capital growth and sustainability as strategic outputs.

Kesko operates through three divisions. The K-Group is a leader in Finnish grocery markets and includes K-Food store operations. The Building and Technical Trade division operates in eight countries through 420 outlets with advanced digitalisation. Kesko’s third division, K-Auto, facilitates the import and marketing of Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and Porche automobiles. This division also develops multichannel services.

As a public limited company, Kesko is listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange under the ticker KESKOB.HE. The company’s stock has been listed on this exchange since February 2000. Kesko is the parent company of the K-Group, its largest division specialising in groceries. On 8 December 2021, Kesko announced the acquisition of Kungälvs Trävaruaktiebolag, a building and home improvement business serving professional builders in Sweden. The details of the deal have not been disclosed.
