What Is 0x?

0x is an open protocol for the decentralised P2P exchange of Ethereum tokens. The protocols native digital currency, ZRX, is an Ethereum token used to power the 0x protocol, which is primarily designed to facilitate the easy trading of Ethereum tokens at low cost, directly from an Ethereum wallet. The protocol also incorporates the aim of allowing users to build platforms and integrate them into various internet services, gaming platforms, and e-commerce stores, as well as different crypto platforms.

0x was founded by Will Warren and Amir Bandeali in 2016 with the aim of providing a standard protocol on the Ethereum blockchain. The exchange allows for the trading of a wide variety of tokenised assets, including stocks, real estate, and video gaming items. ZRX is used to pay trading fees within the network, and those holding ZRX tokens can influence the governance of the blockchain. The total supply of ZRX tokens is capped at 1bn.
