Dell Technologies Inc. started as PCs Unlimited, a company founded in 1984 by Michael Dell, then a young student at the University of Texas. It went public and was renamed Dell Computer Corporation. In 2016, Dell merged with EMC, giving birth to Dell Technologies. It is a leading provider of a broad range of hardware and software solutions and information technology services, operating globally. Dell Technologies has several subsidiaries, which include Boomi, Dell, Dell EMC, RSA, Secureworks, Virtustream, and VMWare. Its headquarters are located in Round Rock, Texas.
Dell operates through three segments. Its Infrastructure Solutions segment includes networking, servers, and storage services. The Client Solutions segment covers commercial and consumer buyers of desktops, notebooks, and thin client products. Its VMWare segment oversees end-user computing needs such as cloud management, networking, security, and storage.
As of January 2021, the company has about 158,000 employees worldwide and reported its total assets at $118.8m. It also retained its Top 2 standing as Fortune’s World’s Most Outstanding Companies. Dell Technologies began trading on the NYSE on 28 December, 2018, where it is listed under the ticker DELL.
