Braskem S.A. is a petrochemical business engaged in the production and sale of thermoplastic resins. The business was originally established in August 2002 through the integration of six different companies from the Odebrecht Group and the Mariani Group. Braskem S.A. is based in Brazil, with the company headquarters located in São Paulo. The company also has offices in Asia, America and Europe and operates on an international scale, serving customers in over 70 countries globally.

Braskem S.A. operations take place across three operational divisions. These are the Brazil division, the United States and Europe division and the Mexico division. The Brazil division focuses on the production of polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyvinylchloride resins along with basic chemical inputs. The US and Europe division produces polypropylene for the US and Germany, while the Mexico division produces ethylene cracker and polyethylene units for Mexico.

The company produces more than 16m metric tons of thermoplastic resins and other chemicals per year. As of August 2022, Braskem S.A. is the biggest thermoplastic resins and polypropylene producer in America. It is also the largest producer of biopolymers in the world. Braskem S.A. trades its stock shares on the New York stock exchange using the ticker BAK.
