What Is Flare?

Flare is the native token of the Flare network, an Ethereum Virtual Machine compatible, distributed network that runs the Avalanche consensus protocol. Launched in 2020, the token secures the issuance of FXRP and generates data on the network using an oracle system. Flare will offer smart contract functionality to XRP holders (on a separate blockchain), and trades under the symbol FLR.

XRP holders could claim 45 of the 100 billion issued Flare tokens at a rate of 1:1 if they held XRP on a ‘snapshot’ date of December 12, 2020, at 00:00 UTC.
