Power Integrations Inc. is a supplier of high-performance components used in high-voltage power conversion systems. The firm was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in San Jose, California. The company is involved in the production of integrated circuits that enable compact, energy-efficient AC-DC power supplies for a vast range of electronic products. The firm’s technologies are found in smartphones, smart utility meters, LED lights, smart home appliances, and numerous industrial applications.

The firm’s products include integrated circuits and diodes, power conversion integrated circuits and gate drivers. In 1998 the firm introduced its EcoSmart energy-efficiency technology, which has since prevented billions of dollars' worth of energy waste and greatly reduced carbon emissions. The environmental benefits of the firm’s products has led to the inclusion of the company stock as a component of clean-technology stock indices sponsored by Cleantech Group LLC and Clean Edge.

The firm’s semiconductors are used in PCs, cell phones, cable boxes, and other consumer and industrial electronics. Power Integrations SCALE IGBT drivers are used in high-power applications such as industrial motor drives, solar and wind energy systems, and electric vehicles. The firm trades on the NASDAQ under the stock ticker POWI.
