Wacker Chemie AG is a chemical producer, more specifically, silicone rubbers, polymer powder, polysilicon and wafers for the semiconductor industry. Based in Munich, Wacker Chemie AG has production facilities in over 20 countries and sell its products in more than 100 countries around the world. The company’s production is located primarily in Germany and in Michigan, in the US. In addition, Wacker Chemie AG finished the construction of a new plant in Tennessee for a total cost of $2.5 billion.
Traded as WCH.DE, Wacker Chemie AG went public in 2006. The stock is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, with over 50 million shares on the open market. Both common shares and dividends are available.
Wacker Chemie AG has suffered its share of tragedies throughout the years, related to employee health and safety. Two employees were killed in 2012, but the fault was eventually levied at a subcontractor. Wacker Chemie AG was fined twice in 2016 for hazardous energy and for lacking safety processes. In 2017, 5 workers suffered chemical burns due to a Silane gas plant malfunction.
