Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Analyst to join eToro's Credit Fraud Operations team, to serve as the central authority on credit fraud detection, prevention, and control at eToro. This role is critical in safeguarding the platform from credit abuse, chargeback exploitation, and procedural vulnerabilities. The SME will collaborate cross-functionally to design controls, validate alerts, guide investigations, and strengthen operational readiness.

The ideal candidate will bring deep fraud domain expertise, a strong understanding of financial products and credit abuse tactics, and the ability to influence risk decisions and processes without direct managerial authority.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the subject matter authority on credit fraud, chargeback abuse, and procedural gaps across the user lifecycle.
  • Oversee alert review and fraud pattern detection related to credit risks, chargebacks, funding anomalies, or refund abuse.
  • Serve as a key point of escalation for complex and high-impact credit fraud cases.
  • Maintain and evaluate the register of chargebacks and risk refunds, ensuring documentation and consistency.
  • Analyze trends and root causes to propose risk mitigation strategies.
  • Draft and maintain fraud-related procedures to ensure they reflect actual practices and evolving threats.
  • Provide feedback and corrective recommendations to relevant teams based on QC findings.
  • Recommend and test new alerts, rule sets, and control mechanisms to close emerging or existing fraud gaps.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data, and Engineering to enhance detection logic and automation tools.
  • Maintain accurate and audit-ready documentation for fraud-related procedures, changes, and case resolution outcomes.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing expert insights, documentation, and retrospective analyses as required.
  • Contribute to fraud incident response efforts, assisting in real-time containment, assessment, and post-mortem analysis.
  • Deliver training sessions, onboarding guidance, and documentation to enhance team understanding of credit fraud risks and controls.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in fraud prevention, transaction monitoring, or credit risk, ideally within a fintech or trading platform.
  • Strong understanding of credit abuse methods, chargeback manipulation, account misuse, and refund fraud.
  • Experience in handling fraud alerts, investigating suspicious activity, and coordinating responses.
  • High attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across Risk, Product, Compliance, and Ops.

Highly advantageous:

  • Understanding of payment gateway mechanics, especially chargeback disputes, 3DS, and card scheme rules (Visa/MasterCard).
  • Knowledge of client authentication and access controls, including MFA, device ID, and behavioral biometrics.
  • Experience with fraud monitoring platforms, alert rule configuration, or third-party fraud tools (e.g., Sift).
  • Ability to work with data querying tools (e.g., SQL, BigQuery)
